Nancy Lear Scholarship ($4600)
To celebrate our dear colleague, Nancy Lear, and to recognize the enthusiastic energy she brought to our Accessible Nature Wellbeing Programs, we are establishing a scholarship in her memory. As the Peer Support Facilitator at Technology for Living, Nancy understood the value of EcoWisdom’s Accessible Nature Wellbeing Programs as a powerful form of peer support among those living with a disability or chronic illness. She witnessed the many ways that ANWPs were able to foster individual resiliency and build community capacity.
In recognition of all that Nancy contributed to EcoWisdom programming and leadership and as a demonstration to our commitment to serve people who experience economic disadvantage in society, EcoWisdom will offer free course tuition ($3000) to a member of the disability community in British Columbia as a way to encourage the use of Accessible Nature Wellbeing Programs as a form of peer support. The Lear Family and close friends have generously contributed funds to cover the additional expenses of: the mentor fee ($1200), books ($100) and personal support worker hours to facilitate your inclusion in the retreat ($300). The total value of this scholarship is $4,600.
